Van Buskirk Community Center

Community Projects

Project Overview

Revitalizing a blighted neighborhood through the redevelopment of an existing community center was LDA’s charge by the City. The original community center was only 7,000 SF, severely underutilized and not serving the demographics of the area. Through community workshops and programming sessions, LDA created a complex that now is a neighborhood hub. By adding 18,000 SF to the existing building and reprogramming the space, the new facility now contains new basketball courts, a weight room, upgraded kitchen, classrooms and a fully accessible ADA playground.
