LDA Partners Fights Hunger
with Design
LDA Partners' "Milk and Cookies" can sculpture earned the "Best Food" award
in this years Canstruction competition, held September 23 to 30 in Modesto.
Using more than 2000 cans of tuna and condensed milk donated by the Manteca
Rotary Club, it took 12 LDA Partners staff members working in teams of 5
more than 6 hours to assemble the sculpture.
Canstruction competitions are held in cities across the nation to raise
community support for the fight against hunger. After their use as building
blocks, the cans of food are donated to local food banks and other charities
to feed those in need. Back to Headlines |

LDA Partners
Helps Kids Build Their Future
For the eighth consecutive year, LDA Partners has taken a leading role in
promoting literacy and education for children of all ages by providing a
fun and creative venue for architectural expression at Stockton’s Family
Day at the Park. The annual event is organized by The Record newspaper and
San Joaquin A+, a non-profit, volunteer organization focused on education.
LDA Partners' activity, called "Boom Town", enabled youngsters to create
offices, hospitals, gas stations, restaurants, ships, and other structures
from common household materials. As each new structure is added to the Boom
Town setting, a whimsical and delightful community unfolds. LDA Partners
staff and their families were on hand throughout the event to encourage
the creative process and ensure that building materials were at the ready.

Michael R. Donaldson
Earns USGBC LEED® Accreditation
Stockton Architect Certified as Proficient in Green Building
[Stockton, CA November 28, 2006] Michael R. Donaldson,
AIA, founding partner of Lesovsky-Donaldson Architects, has been certified
as a LEED® Accredited Professional by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
Donaldson is the first Stockton architect to be certified as a LEED Accredited
Professional. The certification recognizes proficiency in understanding,
interpreting and applying the USGBC’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design (LEED) standards for green building.
Donaldson undertook the LEED training and certification process in response
to growing interest in sustainable design among Lesovsky-Donaldson’s clients.
“Buildings that have enhanced environmental performance also have been shown
to deliver lower operating costs, healthier workplaces, and more-productive
employees,” Donaldson says. “As a LEED Accredited Professional, I’m better
able to help my clients realize the bottom-line benefits of building with
environmental performance in mind.”
Designed as a means of calling attention to high-performance commercial
and institutional projects with smaller “environmental footprints,” the
LEED system has emerged as a driving force in the rapidly expanding green-building
arena. Applicable to private- and public-sector projects alike, the LEED
system was recently cited as the “most appropriate and credible sustainable
building rating system ” by the U.S. Government’s General Services Administration.
The voluntary LEED rating system evaluates buildings in five categories
of performance: sustainable sites; energy and atmosphere; eater efficiency;
materials and resources; and indoor environmental quality. Within these
categories, credit points are awarded for meeting specified standards, with
extra “innovation” points awarded for performance above LEED standards.
Buildings are awarded Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum ratings depending
on the number of credits they achieve. Back
